music brassMusic clubs for the Infants include a Choir, which regularly visits a residential home in the area to entertain the residents and a whole class recorder group (from summer year 1). Where appropriate, able instrumentalists are invited to join junior ensembles.  From time to time we run the ever-popular and aptly named ‘Scrape, Bang and Blow Club’!

There are numerous extra-curricular music activities for pupils in years 3 – 6. The Boys’, Girls’ and Chamber Choirs perform in the local community, give concerts, carol services, festivals, and on occasions, local radio (as part of the nationwide Sing Up campaign).

At present the instrumental ensembles include an orchestra, wind band, recorder,  brass and string ensembles. Pupils perform music relevant to their individual standards and occasional sessions encourage improvisation and composing.

percussionThe emphasis is very much on enjoyment and confidence building, along with fostering a sense of team spirit and co-operation.

With our fantastic new Studio we are able to host occasional events, such as our “Strings on Saturday”, a charity event, raising funds for music projects to reach some of the poorest children in the developing world. Seven local schools participated in this fun and worthwhile day.

We have wonderful music technology facilities and our Composing Club attracts the very best of our talented composers.
