Junior School Council organize charity event.
On the 22nd of June Churcher’s College Junior School had an event to raise money for Help For Heroes. They had a cake sale and a penny mile around their sports track.
The event was organised by the School council, who made enough cakes to sell to the school - with the help of Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Yugin-Power.
At playtime the School Council went round the school with cakes for each class, and sold each cake for 20p. The penny mile happened at lunch. One by one each class came out to the track and put down their money, coin by coin. We did not think we would do a whole lap of the track but as it neared the end of lunchtime it got very exciting as the infants came out and completed the first lap and started a second
one. In total we had 256m of coins! The cake sale raised £80 and the penny mile raised £158.83.
It was a successful day and all the children enjoyed it.
