Other opportunities to join us

The main entry points for Churcher’s are the term after your child's third birthday (Nursery), 7+ (Year 3), 11+ (Year 7) and 16+ (Sixth Form), yet there are occasional opportunities to join the school at other times.

Junior School

Reception Entry

Places fill quickly at the Junior School & Nursery, with the main entry point being at the Nursery, so early registration is recommended to start your child’s journey here.

Please get in touch if you are interested in joining Churcher’s College from Reception, as places are limited and in high demand.

Years 1 and 2 Entry

Occasional places may be available; for entry into Year 1, if we have a place to offer at the point of registration, we will invite your child to attend a taster session to ensure that the School can meet the needs of each child before offering a place.

For entry into Year 2, if we have a place to offer at the point of registration, we will invite your child to attend a morning at school.  During the morning, we will assess your child in English (spelling, reading and comprehension, and writing) and maths. The morning will include some fun activities including team games and art.

Years 4, 5 & 6 Entry

Entry into Years 4, 5 or 6 is dependent upon there being places in the relevant year group.  If you would like your child to join either Year 4, 5 or 6 and there is a place to offer, registered children will be invited to attend a morning assessment.  Your child will be assessed in English (spelling, reading and comprehension, and writing) and maths.

Senior School

Year 9 (13+)

Our key entry points to the Senior School are 11+ and 16+.  We do run a 13+ entrance assessment cycle in parallel with our 11+ but can only offer around 6 to 8 places.  With increasing demand lower down in Year 7 it leaves us with fewer places and space in the rising cohort, limiting how many new children we can take at this time.

The application and selection process is the same as 11+ with an interview in the autumn term of Year 8 (see our 11+ entry page

The entrance assessment for Year 9 is a one hour online test also held at the school on the penultimate Saturday in January of the year of entry. We do not pre-test or defer offers, all children take the entrance assessment in the spring term of Year 8.
