Sailing Success at the National Schools Championship

24 of our sailors, from 1st to 5th year, took on the National Schools Championship at Itchenor Sailing Club, racing Fireflies and Fevas through increasingly challenging conditions. As winds built through the week, the racing grew tense and thrilling. As the regatta wore on, our older students really came into their own helping the younger sailors rig their boats and, just as importantly, offering encouragement and reassurance when conditions got tough. That sense of camaraderie carried the whole team through to the end of the week.
Resilience was the name of the game, with sailors pushing through fatigue and testing conditions to get the best out of every race. Teamwork ran through everything; from the way crews communicated on the water to the way older and younger students supported one another on shore. And through it all, there was laughter and a genuine enjoyment of each other's company that kept spirits high all week.
Our students embodied the spirit of the regatta from start to finish. As any sailor knows, there's no such thing as a bad day on the water.
None of this would be possible without the wider Churcher's community - the support of families and parents throughout the week was invaluable, and it's this ongoing support that allows the event to continue year after year.
