Towards the end of this year's Spring Term, over 60 pupils from the 1st to 4th years of Churcher's College Senior School enthralled audiences over two nights with the inaugural and highly anticipated Junior Cabaret.
The show was a stunning compilation of singing, dancing, drama and musical performances and a chance to showcase the talents of our younger Senior School pupils.
Musicals featured highly in the programme with Wicked, Annie, Little Shop of Horrors, Rent, Phantom of the Opera and In The Heights, all represented through song, dance and acted scenes, all to an extremely high standard.
Other dances which featured in the show were 4th year group Snow Globe Choreography who danced to “The Moment I Said It” as well as a contemporary dance solo to the song “Dynasty”.
Further acted scenes were “True Dare Kiss”, the hilarious “Acting Class”, a solo performance of “Little Victories” and “Robots”.
Instrumental and sung performances also featured aplenty with “Little Brown Jug”, performed by The Junior Jazz Band (who formed specifically for the Junior Cabaret show) and “Adiemus”, performed by the Junior Chamber Choir.
There were also more modern tracks (the majority of which included live performances of both vocals and musical accompaniment by the pupils) with “The Power of Love” (by Celine Dion); “Somewhere Only We Know” (by Lily Allen); the musical theatre number “Hand In Hand”; “Rise” (by Katy Perry); “Hurt” (by Christina Aguilera and Mark Ronson); and in an impressive display of creativity and initiative the song “Second Chances” which was both written and performed by our own Senior School pupil and his accompanying band.
All performers, technical crew, and teachers who were involved thoroughly enjoyed entertaining audiences in what was a brilliantly fun and thoroughly professional show.
