Petersfield to the Parthenon

Churcher’s College Junior School teacher Janine Gillard has raised over £12,000 for charity Maddy’s Mark, cycling from Petersfield to Athens.

On 12 September 2022 Janine and her fiancé Phil set off from Churcher’s College to much fanfare, cheering and excited flag waving by the pupils, to cycle across Europe with the aim of covering almost 2,000 miles in six weeks.

The pair documented their progress via their blog which included their route in detail as well as photos and videos.

On Monday 31 October Janine and Phil returned to Churcher’s College Junior School & Nursery to much celebration and lots of hugs from the children who are immensely proud of their teacher.

Maddy’s Mark was set up in memory of Janine’s niece and Old Churcherian, Maddy who tragically passed away aged 20 following a rugby injury. To find out more about the charity you can visit the Facebook page.
