Zac Rodber has just returned from the city of Jemmal in Tunisia where he represented Mauritius in the 2018 edition of the Africa Men’s Sevens Rugby tournament.

The competition was the biggest African rugby event in its history with 12 teams from all over the continent: Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Zambia, Tunisia, Senegal, Morocco, Botswana, Ghana, Namibia and Mauritius.

Zac played against hosts Tunisia, Ghana and Botswana as well as the eventual winners Zimbabwe who later defeated Kenya in a great final that sees the winners go on to play in some of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments later this season.

Despite not winning the tournament the young Mauritius squad (which included seven boys at U18 age level) have all gained some great experiences, on and off the field, that will stand them in good stead for more international tournaments this season and in the years to come.
