A group of Second Year (Year 8) pupils had a fantastic time at HMS Sultan’s STEM event ‘SULSTEMIC’ in June.

They learned a lot about STEM, HMS SULTAN, the Royal Navy and so much more. It was a fun-packed, vibrant and hugely enjoyable event including learning about a giant hexapod, helicopter pre-flight checks, flight diagnosis, survival equipment maintenance, as well as using blockchain coding to programme a ‘Sphero’, snap circuits, pneumatic rigs and gas turbines.

Pupils loved meeting and talking to the Royal Navy engineering trainees, members of staff and the Royal Navy’s partner organisations who were incredibly generous with their time and very approachable. They also relished the freedom of Zone 2, filling up their 'activity passports' and collecting ‘gizits’.

At the end of the day the pupils were presented with a beautiful commemorative coin and goodie bags which went down very well at the end of an action-packed day.
