Sixth Former Eleanor Pritchard has been named the First Sea Lord's Cadet - one of the highest honours in the Combined Cadet Force, recognising exceptional leadership and commitment, presented by the First Sea Lord, General Sir Gwyn Jenkins. Selected after a highly competitive written application and reference process, Eleanor will act as an ambassador for Royal Navy cadets over the coming year.

“Being a First Sea Lord’s Cadet means raising the profile of the Royal Navy among young people, helping to increase understanding of the values and role in modern British society, and representing cadets at national events like the Trafalgar Parade and the Mountbatten Festival of Music,” Eleanor explains. “For me personally, it’s a chance to develop public speaking and leadership skills while learning more about careers in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.”

Her investiture began aboard HMS Victory, followed by a tour of the Type 45 destroyer HMS Dauntless. A training weekend completed the experience, including media training, presentations and the opportunity to meet senior Royal Navy staff.
