OSCA Bushcraft Day

In May, Second Year pupils took part in the annual OSCA Bushcraft Day, designed to build confidence, teamwork and practical outdoor skills. Led by highly experienced and qualified instructors, the day featured four engaging round-robin activities, where students worked in mixed-gender groups and rotated between sessions. Pupils learned how to light fires safely, filter and purify water, identify plants and trees - including their edible and medicinal uses - and create natural cordage using plant fibres.
The sessions were delivered in a fun, relaxed environment, with a strong focus on hands-on learning and participation. Throughout the day, students developed valuable real-life survival skills while enjoying the outdoors and working together with their peers. The Bushcraft Day perfectly complemented the school’s OSCA programme by combining adventure, education and teamwork.
