The Art of Argument

Performing and debating in the same chambers once associated with Churchill is no ordinary school day, yet that was the experience for our public speaking team at the finals of the English Speaking Union competition, held at the historic Dartmouth House.
Representing the school, three pupils (one Speaker, one Chair and one Questioner) competed against 10 other schools. our pupil Speaker delivered a compelling speech on unequal opportunity, while our Chair and Questioner collaborated with a student from South Wilts Grammar on authenticity and performance.
Despite strong performances, the team did not place, but gained invaluable experience at a prestigious national venue.
