All eight Upper Sixth students on the school’s Medical Programme have received university offers to study medicine or dentistry - a fantastic result in what is one of the most competitive and demanding career pathways.

Since the start of Lower Sixth, the students have followed a carefully structured programme designed to support every stage of the application process. Weekly sessions have guided them through UCAT preparation, interview technique, work experience planning, and the development of strong personal statements, with specialist input and individual support throughout. Families were also supported through an online information session to help them understand the process and how best to support their children during applications.

The programme has been further enriched by a range of high-quality preparation activities, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL) workshops, mock online interviews across multiple evenings, and an in-person Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) practice day. Students also took part in a drug calculations session, ethics teaching delivered by subject specialists, and a dedicated Ethics Workshop led by Dr Medley, a doctor working for a medical defence organisation.

Dr Verney, Head of Futures at Churcher’s College explains: “This combination of academic preparation, practical experience and expert mentoring has helped students develop the skills, confidence and insight needed for success in highly competitive medical and dental school applications.  Securing university offers is a significant achievement in itself, particularly in such a selective field. This is a thoroughly well-deserved outcome and a reflection of the hard work, commitment and resilience shown by all eight students throughout the programme.”

Congratulations and best of luck to all the students!
