Our team of 12 GCSE and A-Level Physics students enthusiastically took part in the UK Space Design Competition (UKSDC) on Saturday 8 October in London for their regional heat.

Tasked with designing an orbital space station around Mercury, to include habitation, industry and commercial ventures, the students were divided into smaller groups by team captain Daisy and worked to produce a technical brief and proposal paper. This they then presented to a panel of expert science judges and space technology investors. Dragon's Den-style.

After a gruelling schedule, at 8pm the judges delivered their verdict, announcing Churcher's as regional heat winners with an invitation to the National Finals in March. National Final winners have the chance to represent the UK internationally in Florida next August.
