Our English Speaking Union team comprising Jessie, Zhara, and Thomas have won the South Regional Final of the ESU Public Speaking Competition and are now heading for the national finals of the competition this month.

Appearing first in the programme, they started the event off with a bang and set the bar high. Speaking on the topic, 'Should 'Ambition' be a Dirty Word?' Jessie used her performing arts skills to convince the audience that we need to rethink our definition of the word, rather than banish it from our vocabulary.

Zhara was a commanding Chairperson for her segment, with Thomas eventually going on to scoop the 'Best Questioner' award overall for his questioning on the subject of 'Should Christmas be Moved to the Summer?'

The finals take place at Churchill College, Cambridge and we'll have everything crossed for them to be crowned national champions.
