History Trip to London

Lower Sixth historians enjoyed a sun-filled day in London, exploring both the Imperial War Museum and the Cabinet War Rooms. These two remarkable sites offered a wealth of exhibits directly linked to their Churchill source paper and deepened their understanding of the Second World War.
At the Imperial War Museum, students viewed a fascinating collection of Churchill memorabilia, spanning his pre-war life, his leadership as Prime Minister during the war, and his later years as an international statesman. The visit provided valuable context and brought their studies to life in a tangible way.
A particularly moving part of the day was the visit to the Holocaust galleries. The displays were incredibly sobering, and students found the experience emotionally powerful, prompting thoughtful reflection on the human impact of history.
After an inspiring morning, the group enjoyed a picnic in the sunshine at St James’s Park, where they also witnessed the preparations for ‘Trooping the Colour’. The combination of historical exploration and time outdoors made for a memorable and enriching day for all involved.
