A Stirring Performance by Four Sixth Form Stars

The intimate setting of the Phoenix Arts Club provided the perfect backdrop for a captivating and vibrant performance of Shakers: Re-Stirred, a spirited revival of the iconic play by John Godber and Jane Thornton.

This production, brought to life by four talented Sixth Form girls who offered a fresh and exhilarating take on the lives of cocktail waitresses navigating the chaotic, and often hilarious, world behind the bar.

Known for its sharp wit, fast-paced dialogue, and engaging portrayal of working-class camaraderie, Shakers: Re-Stirred explores the daily grind and dreams of four women juggling demanding jobs in a cocktail bar. The girls fully embodied their roles, seamlessly transitioning between multiple characters with remarkable energy and precision. Their chemistry on stage was palpable, drawing the audience into the whirlwind of the bar’s bustling atmosphere.

The Phoenix Arts Club was the perfect setting: an authentic, lively cocktail bar filled with tension, friendship, and dreams deferred. This Shakers: Re-Stirred performance was not just a showcase of young talent, but a heartfelt tribute to the resilience and spirit of everyday heroes working behind the scenes. The energy, timing, and commitment of the girls promise great things ahead in their theatrical journeys!

Shakers: Re-Stirred at the Phoenix Arts Club was a delightful, fast-moving, and emotionally rich performance that left the audience both entertained and moved — a truly fantastic achievement for these gifted Sixth Form performers.
