Last term, a France 3 Normandie TV crew spent the day filming a group of Churcher's College First and Second Year pupils at Arromanches in France.

As part of their coverage of the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the TV station was interested in looking at how D-Day is taught to the young generation in the UK, United States, Canada and Germany and so filmed a group of schoolchildren from each of the four countries.

The Churcher’s College pupils, who were representing the UK in the TV piece, were in Normandy as part of an annual trip related to their Modern Foreign Languages studies. As part of the planning for the trip, which included a visit to a D-Day museum as well as the famous beaches, teacher Kathryn Shaw was approached by the TV station to invite the group to be filmed whilst there.

All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience with many volunteering to be interviewed.

Thank you to France 3 Normandie for this wonderful opportunity and fascinating insight into how international news coverage is created.
