Hiking For Mountain Rescue

On Thursday 3 September Old Churcherians Adam and Will (who left Churcher’s this summer), completed a four-day hike raising money for Mountain Rescue, climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks (39.2km) followed by the Dales way (128.7km).

They walked a total of 107 miles in 4 days and have currently raised £1,450 on their GoFundMe page, beating their target of £1,250.

They were inspired by their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition to Snowdonia, where they were introduced to the volunteers at Ogwen Mountain Rescue Base. The men and women volunteers, like many others in the Mountain Rescue Service, are on call to give their time for search and rescue on the mountains 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Adam and Will wrote on their GoFundMe page:

We have a passion for the mountains, and have been fortunate to enjoy many years hiking in the Lake District, Yorkshire Moors, Dartmoor and Exmoor and feel a debt of gratitude to the Mountain Rescue Service.

They started their epic challenge by completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks in a day: Ingleborough, Whernside, and Pen-Y-Ghent, then travelling to Ilkley in Yorkshire’s West Riding and walked the Dales Way in 3 days, covering on average 32km (20 miles) per day finishing in the Lake District at Bowness on Windermere.

What a fantastic achievement! If you would like to donate to Adam and Will, you can do so on their GoFundMe page here:
