Third Year pupils, facilitated by ‘Unloc’ from Portsmouth, had a fantastic day creating a new social enterprise fashion business.

The challenge was to create a new venture aimed at a defined target market with key points of differentiation to develop a unique selling point.

Pupils learnt that of the 15 million used ‘Western’ fast fashion items that arrive in Ghana each week, 40% go to landfill and were challenged with coming up with something to help this problem. Pupils also considered what entrepreneurs do and what skills and qualities they have as well as the role of networking.

Each pupil took a role in their team - CEO, CMO, CFO, CDO, COO or CTO and then used the Business Model 'Canvas' to design their business idea and create a marketing campaign.

The pupils then completed a pitch emphasising what was unique about their product, how it would be marketed and what their financial projections were. Finally, the winning teams were chosen! Well done to the pupils and thank you to Unloc for coming in to school.
