After having two Magistrates visit the school to do an introduction talk about Magistrates and the role of the Magistrates’ Court, two groups of Fourth Year and Fifth Year pupils as well as Lower Sixth students visited Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court in March.

Hosted by local Magistrates, we had a tour of the courts learning about how the Magistrates’ Court functions when in session, its role, structure and the people present in it. After our tours and a Q&A, we sat in on the morning court session.

Our pupils agreed that the visits were a brilliant insight into both the court system, the causes of crime, and the support for those in the system.
