At the end of the Summer Term, six determined Lower Sixth students took on the Welsh 3000s Challenge, aiming to summit all 15 Welsh peaks over 3000 feet in under 24 hours.

After a rainy ascent of Snowdon and the Crib Goch ridge, they refuelled before tackling the Glyders, Tryfan and Pen yr Ole Wen as night fell. Battling rain, fatigue and darkness, they completed the remaining peaks by dawn, finishing in a believed Churcher’s record of 19 hours 38 minutes.

Including the first climb and final descent, the team covered nearly 34 miles and over 4000m of ascent in 23 hours 22 minutes.
