On Tuesday 18 November, the whole of the Lower Sixth attended a hard-hitting stage and film roadshow called Safe Drive, Stay Alive, hosted by West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service at Seaford College. The campaign aims to give young people a realistic understanding of the risks on the road and how they can keep themselves safe as they begin learning to drive.

Each year, approximately 8,000 students experience this impactful event. One Lower Sixth student commented: “It was a very emotional experience, and I believe it will change many people’s attitudes towards driving.”

As well as powerful film footage portraying a group of teenagers whose journey ends in tragedy, the performance included real-life stories courageously shared by individuals whose lives have been changed forever by a car crash. Representatives from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, the police, the ambulance service, and the NHS also spoke at the event, reinforcing the importance of making safe choices behind the wheel.
