Churcher’s students achieved outstanding success in the Woodwind Section of this year’s Portsmouth Festival of Performing Arts, winning a number of accolades including: the Molly Cup (Pupil/Teacher Grades 1–2); the Brenda Cup (Pupil/Teacher Grades 3–4); the Own Choice Grades 3–4 class - receiving the Emma Cup; and the Stirling Cup No. 1 for Jazz Grades 7–8. One pupil in particular enjoyed exceptional success, winning three classes and four trophies, including the Norman Strugnell Memorial Cup for Best Recorder Performance (Grades 5–8). One of our pupils earned the Woods Trophy for Most Promising Woodwind and jointly won the Sturge Trophy for Best Solo Performance (14 and under). Another pupil completed the honours by winning the Benjamin Cup for the Pupil–Teacher Duet (Grades 7–8). A huge well done to everyone.
