From 13th to 16th April, 27 senior geography students embarked on a truly unforgettable journey to the Land of Fire and Ice - and Iceland delivered in spectacular fashion!

Blessed with extraordinary light that seemed to conjure rainbows at every turn, the group was treated to breathtaking Icelandic skies that showcased the island's dramatic landscapes in all their glory - a living textbook of geological wonder that no classroom could ever hope to replicate.

Highlights were plentiful and extraordinary: students plunged into the crystal-clear, geothermally heated waters of the Secret Lagoon, marvelled at a magnificent succession of thundering waterfalls, stood astride the bridge between two continents, and witnessed a vivid demonstration of real, flowing lava - all of which brought geology to life in the most dramatic and memorable way imaginable.

Only in Iceland can you witness water in all three states before lunch, stand over burning, bubbling rock in the afternoon, and then round off the day with an entirely unexpected, impromptu audience with the country's President. What a country indeed!
