Easter Tennis Trip

Marbella, Spain was the destination for 36 Wimbledon hopefuls as they embarked on their pre-season training camp ahead of a hectic summer schedule of matches.

Training at Los Monteros Tennis Club with eight professional coaches on a mixture of Astro and red clay, the tennis squad enjoyed four hours of training each day for three days straight, honing their serves, forehands, backhands and volleys. They were also lucky enough to have training on the Padel courts, now a popular alternative tennis craze sweeping the nation.

The training was rigorous, precise and exciting and we all saw improvements in each of the tennis players, improving their matchplay and doubles partner relationships.

Lots of fun was had on the courts, but also back at our superb hotel. Either taking a swim in the large outdoor pool, or enjoying volleyball on the beach, indoor and outdoor table tennis or football matches, along with the excellent quiz night made our time over the five days most enjoyable. Ice cream, sing-alongs as well as a quick shopping trip all added to the value of the tour. 

The squad are now back on court at school either practising or playing their matches during the week and at weekends.
