Computing In Action

Last term, 11 A Level Computer Science students travelled to London to attend ‘Computer Science in Action’ - an enrichment conference at the Emmanuel Centre, in Westminster. Designed to extend learning beyond the classroom, the event explored how Computer Science is shaping research, industry, and media. Students heard from five leading speakers on topics including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and computer vision. Highlights included Dr Tish Mehta’s insightful look “under the bonnet” of chatbots and large language models, and Professor Sue Black’s engaging talk, ‘AI Mystified’. An AQA Principal Moderator also shared valuable exam advice. The conference offered students a deeper understanding of the subject’s real-world impact.
