Senior Academic

33 Computer Science pupils visited The National Museum of Computing, in Bletchley, near Milton Keynes, gaining insight into both the history and ethical future of computing. They explored how wartime codebreaking shaped the modern world, seeing the machines used to decrypt the Enigma and Lorenz ciphers and learning about the mathematicians and engineers behind them. The visit also looked ahead, as pupils debated artificial intelligence ethics through the ‘Moral Machine’ activity. Hands-on experiences included programming the classic Snake game on a 1970s BBC Micro and enjoying retro favourites, such as Pac-Man, Doom, and Sonic the Hedgehog, making it a fun and thought-provoking trip.
